Nostalgia brings quite possibly the best idea in decoration to interior designers and the local market; the ability to design your own carpet from scratch, from the pattern, to the colors and the type of material used.

Panama is a limited market, with barely 3 million people inhabiting it. The chances of finding the exact carpet or rug you want for your living room are mediocre at best. You might be one of the few who absolutely falls in love with something in stock locally, or you might be one of those who conform with what's available and learn to love it. Or you might simply take a trip to New York or London and give yourself wider range of options.

Thankfully, these aren't the only options anymore. Kravet's Custom collection allows you to design your own floorcovering in 5 easy steps:

choose your own fibersStep 1) Either draw up your own pattern, choose a fabric to use as a base for your pattern, or altering over 25 of our designed options.

Step 2) Select the type of material to be used in each design section of the carpet, be it Indian silk or Tibetan wool.

Step 3) Choose the dye color to be used in each section of the carpet's design.

Step 4) At a cost of $150, a small 3x3 sample is made with the specifications for final approval. This process takes between 6 and 8 weeks.

Step 5) If the carpet is approved, the $150 for the sample is credited towards the cost of the final carpet. Tibetan artists and weavers produce your floorcovering, pack it, ship it and deliver it to you in a time frame of 20 weeks.
